The Somewhat Confusing Story of The Unbeloved

I got The Unbeloved by Lloyd Jones III at Blerdcon, a Black owned and run convention for Black nerds to have fun and connect with like-minded people. I got to meet Lloyd Jones III and get my book signed by them, as well. It was a fun experience, meeting the author of the book, and the book is pretty good.

In the start of The Unbeloved we follow two characters named Izanami and Izanagi. They are the two strongest warriors in the world, and are trying their best to save the world from the Yokias, who are killing people and trying to take over the world. We see them try their best to help the world and keep everyone safe. We then follow their descendants, Hiruko and Awashima.

The story pacing feels rushed and the story can be confusing at times. The beginning was pretty confusing to me, and I feel like they skipped over some important things. The story is good when you are able to understand it. There is some very good world building and the characters have depth to them, and are not just boring and bland.

Overall I'd say it is a good book, but the pacing could be better. You can find The Unbeloved here.
