On Wednesday, February 5, 2020, Friendship Collegiate Academy held a Ground-Breaking Ceremony to begin construction on the FPCS Ward 7 Athletics Field and Sports Complex.

On February 5, 2020, FCA senior football players participated in the annual NCAA Signing ceremony—committing to the college of their choice. Most will be the first in their family to go to college.

Most people have used or heard of the video-sharing app TikTok, which is very popular amongst children. It is derived from the app Musical.ly, an app that was first released in August 2014. The original app was mainly used for dancing and lip-syncing. However, after it’s transition into TikTok in 2018, a lot of the app’s content changed.

Did you enjoy the movie, A Fall from Grace? I have heard very different opinions on the movie. Some loved it while others hated it. After watching the movie, I will be talking about the pros and cons of A Fall from Grace. Warning: this article contains spoilers. 

Which is better, TikTok or Musical.ly? As a young child, I have used both. Musical.ly was the original app everyone had, and the more likes you got for your videos the cooler you were. There were lots of popular musers on the app, like Jacob Sartorius, Loren Beech and Liza Koshy.

Groundhog Day is a popular tradition celebrated every year on February 2nd. On this day, people wait around for a groundhog to come out of its burrow to predict how long before there will be spring-like weather.

Over the past year, we’ve seen many dangerous wildfires burning our plants and trees.

Did you ever go to Toys R Us as a kid, or even as a teen or an adult? Well, I did. Toys R Us was one of the largest toy stores in the US since it first opened in 1957, but in 2018 it closed, breaking the hearts of many young kids, teens, and adults. Even though Toys R Us closed two years ago, the word is spreading about it coming back.

When I think about holidays in December, I think about Christmas, Hanukkah, Kwanzaa, and people’s birthdays that I know. That’s not even a fourth of holidays celebrated in December according to Google.

On Wednesday, December 11, 2019 at 6:30PM, The Arts Academy at FPCS Blow Pierce presented their 4th musical titled, Frozen. This year’s musical starred Demi Kibler as Elsa. 

On Tuesday, December 17, 2019, the Blow Pierce Arts Department hosted an incredible winter showcase called Arctic Chill. The students and teachers hosted a daytime show for students and staff and an evening show for family and friends.

According to Everyday Health, “Nine hours per day—that's how much time the average American spends in front of a cell phone, tablet, computer or television screen”.

On Saturday, January 18th, 2020, FCA's Roboknights battled high schools across the DMV to take first place in the VEX Robotics Competition in Collegiate’s gym.

On November 13, 2019, Tech Prep’s Future Business Leaders of America (FBLA) went to the Find Your Balance Challenge to find ways to help solve issues in our school and community. One of the many topics running through our minds was emotional health, which we think seems to be a prevalent problem in our community.

On February 26, 2012, twenty nine year old George Zimmerman shot and killed 17-year-old Trayvon Martin while he was just simply walking home from a corner store. Zimmerman  went to trial for Trayvon’s death on June 10, 2013 but all of the charges were later dropped on June 13, 2013

One day as I was sitting down to watch the news about Donald Trump getting impeached, I wondered if people really know what impeachment means.

Have you ever had a break packet? During long or short breaks from school, most students receive them. On average these packets for a week off of school are about 4 pages per each core subject. According to the Los Angeles Times, each packet takes about 60 to 90 minutes to complete, and only about 75% of children complete them.
