Do you like to dance? Well did you know that when you dance you’re not only having fun but also getting fit? IT’S TRUE! A popular movement activity at our school is the dance game called “Just Dance”. We use this activity to help us get our jiggles out before we start learning.

On Tuesday, April 17, 2018, former first lady Barbara Bush died at the age of 92 years old of chronic obstructive pulmonary disease. She was the wife of George H. W. Bush, the 41st President of the United States, and served as the First Lady of the United States.
PreK Celebrates 100 Days of School
Woodridge recently had the 100th day of school! I have a story to tell about it! Sometimes when my parents are unable to come and get me, my great aunt has to pick me up. My aunt likes doing this because her children also attend Woodridge. Well, on the hundredth day of school, I rode to school with her.
Boating Across the Anacostia River
On March 22, 2018, Woodridge’s 8th graders enjoyed an entire day out of school to visit the Anacostia Watershed in Southeast Washington, DC. This was a great field trip before heading off for a week-long springbreak. Ms. Beckwith, Woodridge’s 7th and 8th grade science teacher, wanted us to have a real-world experience with science while learning about the watershed community and the impact that people have on the natural world.
The Stand For Meek Mill
Last month a judge sentenced the rapper Meek Mill for violating his probation. What’s crazy is that he was sentenced to 2-4 years in prison. What for? Listen carefully because the story gets to be even crazier. Meek Mill was already on probation for a gun and drug charge that took place back in in 2008.

Third Grader Wins LEGO Science Championship
This year Woodridge Elementary has a LEGO Junior League. This afterschool club is sponsored by our 3rd grade math teacher Ms.Taylor Dow. During the program, students are taught tons of math and science concepts through real-world application. We are able to design, build, and create using LEGO’s products.
A Wrinkle in Time Ranks #1 For Woodridge Girls
Woodridge Girls Rock! In honor of Women in History Month, forty-five girls were selected by their teachers to see the movie, A Wrinkle in Time along with our principal Felicia Owo. This happened because of donated tickets to more than 12,000 students nationwide.
Tech Prep’s Trip to the Amazing City of New York
On Monday, March 26, 2018, Tech Prep reporters and our advisor, Ms. Sabina Powell, had the opportunity to execute a student-planned trip to Harlem, New York City. We went to the Apollo Theater, had lunch at Sylvia’s and experienced Harlem overall.
Cheer Starz Are First Place Winners
The Woodridge Eagles Cheerleaders had another big win! Each year the Eagles win it big, again. They came in first place for the fourth year in a row. The team is coached by Ms. Beckwith and Dr. Shipp. All of their hard work has definitely paid off.
The Kings and Queens of Woodridge: A Dance to Remember
Woodridge Aftercare had an incredible event to recognize scholars for all of their hard work entitled Friendship Cares Scholar Achievement. Scholars in Preschool and Kindergarten were celebrated for their behavior and participation. In grades 1st thru 6th, scholars were recognized for their grades with a G.P.A. of 3.0 or better.

Elementary Basketball Team Clean Sweep
Congratulations to the Woodridge Eagles’ Co-ed elementary basketball team. On Tuesday the Elementary Eagles finished their undefeated season 14-0 by winning the FEAA Championship. The Woodridge Eagles beat Blow Pierce Knights 21-14. This is the second year Woodridge has coached an elementary basketball team.

Make the Choice to Free Our Voice!
On Wednesday, March 14, 2018, student survivors of the attack at Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School in Parkland, Florida called for a nationwide student walkout. Friendship Tech Prep Academy ensured that we were one of those schools who made sure that we were out there to ensure that we “Make the Choice to Free Our Voice”, which was our chant created by 9th grade scholar R’Nasia Murphy.
