Lately, I have been doing a lot of research on why students should keep learning during the summer—not only because it can help enrich our minds but also because it helps many students to make sure that they either are learning more than what they have learned during the school year or it will help them to remember most of the things that they did learn during the school year.

Being a student I know how hard it is to do a big test like the PARCC assessment... especially because you're frustrated and worried that you might be retained in the same grade and fail because of one test.  These are a couple of things that you should look forward to in order to do your very best on the PARCC.

FEBRUARY 28th, 2017, Friendship Armstrong Academy: Today you are going to be reading about the 2017 Black History Month performances at Friendship Armstrong Academy and about the early childhood performance called “The Power of Words”. The students performed the celebration of “The Power of Words” to celebrate Black History Month and what it means to them and how we can remember the African-Americans from our history.

In the Fall of 2017, I will be attending the United States Naval Academy on a football scholarship. I chose to attend the academy not only to fulfill my dream of being a division one football player but to also support my family as I continue to get older.

I am writing this story about former Knight and current Jacksonville Jaguar, Yannick Ngakoue because he is where I hope to be one day. In about three to four years, I hope to be an NFL football star. Becoming an NFL football player has been a career I've been pursuing since I was a little boy.

Farafina Kan is an American based West African drum and dance company currently housed in Mt, Rainier, Maryland. Farafina Kan was founded by Mahiri Keita and Diallo Sumbry who are brothers. We play West African music from many different countries. 

Attending Friendship Collegiate in my senior year has been stressful. Since the beginning of the year, I have been overwhelmed with work and deadlines. No one would imagine how heavy my workload is because I’m not the person who complains. I would just get my work done.

Imagine yourself sitting at home and all of a sudden your head feels like it’s about to explode. You feel so much pressure and then you feel nauseous. Light and sound bother you to the point where you have to sit in the dark and turn off the TV or your phone. Your first thought would be “I’m having a headache,” but this is something more than an average headache. This is a migraine.

When you hear the word, “space”, what do you think? Space, it’s a beautiful place. We as humans have been studying space since man could remember. Fifty million years from now the earth will be too hot for life as we know it to survive.

The PARCC is a very serious state test. PARCC is a type of test to see whether or not you go to the next grade. In addition when you finish PARCC there are certain scores that you will get. The types of scores you would get are a 0, 1, 2, 3, 4, or 5.

From April 17 - April 19, 2017, three reporters from Tech Prep and two reporters from Collegiate had the chance to take a trip to New Haven, CT over spring break. We were able to tour Yale University’s famous Beinecke Library to view the Harlem Renaissance exhibit. We toured the entire Yale campus along with the engineering school. We stayed at the Friendship News Network director Ms. Kaufman’s house in Hamden, CT which is about 20 minutes from New Haven.

The D.C. District Wide STEM Fair was held at Dunbar High School, and two of our very own Titans, including myself, got the honor of representing Friendship Tech Prep with our innovative projects.

On March 10, 2017, I got picked from my school to participate in Student Minority Day at Microsoft. While I was there, Trayon White the Ward 8 Council Member gave a speech on how he grew up and became successful and then gave back to his community.

In this new age and generation, students now wear personality glasses that aren’t prescribed by doctors. You can get them from the mall stands, beauty supply stores, and even the Dollar Store. They are so cute and go with any personality. They have big glasses, round-faced glasses, square- framed glasses and even the larger size frames which all come in many colors and designs. All kids wear them.
