The Armstrong Theatre Club had a play based on the famous civil rights legend, Martin Luther King, Jr., in the Armstrong Auditorium. They did this not only to recognize Dr. King but also to recognize other African-American icons from our history.

How can you become friends with a person from another culture? First, we read a book about a family from Vietnam that moved to the United States. The book told us about how people reacted to somebody that was different, and how people can be misunderstood.

Blow Slams and Rhymes Words
Here at Blow Pierce Elementary School, Ms. Morgan and Ms. Foster’s Pre-K classroom had a poetry slam. The poetry slam was a fundraiser. They sold bracelets, paintings, and food like shrimp and grits, drinks, and pastries to raise money for an end-of-year field trip. The room was decorated in a fun way.
Mother and Son All White Affair
Friendship Woodridge has been on a roll with mind blowing events. The most recent event that occurred happened on April 8th-The First Annual Mother and Son All-White Affair. The event was held to raise money so that Woodridge's Lady Eagles Dance Team could travel to a dance competition in Virginia Beach.

Jamal Adams is expected to be a first-round NFL draft pick with Leonard Fournette (Former LSU Running Back). He was born October 17, 1995, and is 21 years old. Jamal attended Hebron High School. MATHCOUNTS at Woodridge
On Friday, March 24, 2017, eight of Woodridge’s scholars competed in The Carderock Math Contest. The Carderock is a unique educational opportunity for middle-school students with an interest in mathematics. The event consisted of a MATHCOUNTS style competition, an exciting STEM presentation, an interactive tour of Carderock's state-of-the-art facilities, an on stage countdown round, and an awards ceremony.
Young, Black Girls, and Missing
In our city, there has been an increase in the number of missing young Black girls. This makes me feel angry, fearful, concerned and curious. It makes me angry because I do not understand why people would want to take someone’s child and because children are harmless.
Woodridge Goes to NSBE Robotics Competition
On Thursday, March 30, 2017, Woodridge’s Robotics team traveled to Missouri for the NSBE presentations. NSBE stands for The National Society of Black Engineers. NSBE in Kansas City, Missouri allowed students to present on a topic they had worked on to compete.

On Monday, April 3, 2017, Georgetown University announced that Patrick Ewing, American retired NBA Hall of Fame basketball player would be the head coach of the men’s basketball team. He played most of his career with NBA's New York Knicks as their starting center.
