The Masterpiece That Is Bob’s Burgers

Bob’s Burgers is a sitcom about a family of five who work in a burger place underneath their home. Business doesn’t always go well, and they are often trying to make ends meet. Each episode centers on one or multiple family members and whatever adventure they embark on that day.

In earlier seasons, the show leans more on its comedy, mature jokes and awkward, yet relatable, moments. Now, in the later seasons, it’s become more personal, as we learn more about this family and their dynamics. The only thing about the show that isn’t exactly my favorite is that a new adventure isn’t as interesting as the last. Meaning some episodes can be pretty boring. However, I love how the show can make you reflect on your own life experiences. For example, in the episode "For Whom the Doll Toes," the two sisters, Tina and Louise, have a fallout over a broken toy. Louise breaks Tina’s toy after Tina repeatedly tells her to not touch her stuff, since she's been saving up for this toy for months. Because of this, a mini war breaks out between the two sisters. Fortunately, through this mini war they learn to understand each other better and end up closer. I can relate to this as someone with a younger sister who constantly breaks the stuff I tell her not to touch. It reminded me that getting angry with her won’t get us anywhere or solve anything, but communication will.

Bob’s Burgers teaches us the little values in life that we might miss or take for granted, like spending time with your family. I recommend this show to anyone who likes slow living, low simulating shows, and heartfelt stories with a side of comedy. For me this show is a 10/10 and I highly recommend it. You can find all of the seasons, and even the movie, on Hulu, Disney, Apple TV, and Amazon Prime.
