On April 22, 2022, Tech Prep celebrated earth day by encouraging everyone to wear green. Several students celebrated Earth Day by cleaning Anacostia Park, and some of the Freshman Academy students even went outside to plant in the garden. Teachers like Ms. Chamberlain, Ms. Odifa, and Ms. Adkins-Lewis dressed up as bees to share why Earth Day was important to them.

During our interview with Ms.Odifa, she explained that the importance of saving bees, “Without bees humans can’t survive. They produce food and honey, and are a critical part of the ecosystem and the life cycle. Without bees humans would not exist so we have to keep them alive.”

She also mentioned that Earth Day is important, “Being aware of our environment and the impact we have on it is really important, particularly in urban environments. Being aware of ways that we can help protect it, is important.”

In conclusion, Earth Day is really important because it is vital that we save our environment. It doesn’t only impact our present time but also our future and the generations that come after us. Earth Day is a great reminder to make sure we protect our planet and the animals that live here. It is important that we are able to live in a healthy environment because this is our home.
