Saving Wildlife Starts With Us: Chamberlain Champions Visit the National Zoo
News Brief and Photos by Quincy Agard and Terry Cook.
On May 9, 2026, we visited the Smithsonian National Zoo to learn about how the zoo is working to protect animals that are in danger of becoming extinct. We visited the elephant outpost, great ape house and the reptile discovery center. We also saw prairie dogs. We learned that humans are not only affected by environmental problems, we are guilty of causing them. We learned that being informed about our endangered species and being aware of how our actions impact the environment, can become part of the solution to help protect wildlife and the planet for others.
