Hey guys. Welcome back to the Fun Thinking Show. Did you know that Miss America, Nia Franklin, has a favorite ice cream shop? Meagan Maddox did a story about Ms. America for Women’s History Month.

May 10, 2019, was definitely a night to remember. Why, you ask? It was the FNN Third Annual Awards Ceremony and Dinner. The room was filled with nothing but joy, spirit, and a great smell from delicious food.

May 19, 2019. It was game three of the Conference Finals...Toronto Raptors vs Milwaukee Bucks at the Scotiabank Arena. Both teams have superstar talent—the Bucks with Giannias and the Raptors with Kawhi.

On Saturday, March 30th, the elementary cheerleaders got a chance to cheer their hearts out! We embarked on an exciting challenge for the first time going to an actual Cheer Starz Varsity Competition and competed for the first time at the junior high school division level!

From April 15 - April 17, FNN reporters from Friendship Tech Prep and Friendship Collegiate went on our third annual spring break trip. We were able to visit two wonderful cities, New York City and New Haven, CT. This trip allowed 10th and 11th grade reporters from both schools to explore two different colleges while of course having fun.

Ermias Asghedom, also known as Nipsey Hussle, is a well-known rapper from Los Angeles California. Hussle was a huge inspiration in his community who supported and defended many African American sisters and brothers. Nipsey Hussle was shot in front of his own clothing store, THE MARATHON in Hyde Park, California on March 31, 2019.

Everyone has their own issues. Things like self-confidence, anxiety, putting yourself out there, and maybe being vulnerable can be a struggle for many. Sometimes the person will know that he/she has these issues, while others don’t. These problems, depending on how severe they are, can affect one’s mental health.

We continue to hear about all of these businesses closing down. Well, today another company has announced it is calling it quits, and this time it is Payless Shoe Stores. Payless said last week that they have officially closed down for good. The company will shut down over 2,500 stores in North America alone.

Thirty minutes outside of Washington DC is a farm. For three days, Armstrong’s 5th graders got to experience what it takes to live on a farm. We went deep into Maryland all the way to Hard Bargain Farm. Farm life is tiring, hard, dangerous, and occasionally exciting.

First, let’s start by defining gentrification. Gentrification happens when a run-down part of a city is renovated so that it can be improved. Once that happens, the low-income people who live within the renovated areas are forced to leave because they can’t afford to live there anymore.

Do you know Nia Franklin? She was born in Winston Salem, NC and she is an African American. She represented New York in the latest Miss America competition, and was crowned as Miss America in 2019. Why did she join the Miss America Competition?
