Drawing for scholarships? Seems way too easy right? Well, that’s not the case for Google’s annual Doodle 4 Google contest. Each year, thousands of students compete with artsy sketches for a chance at amazing prizes.

After the last bell rings at Chamberlain the day does not end. Chamberlain has many after school activities including majorettes, flag team, drum corps, honor society, flag football, volleyball, dance, cheerleading, tutoring, robotics, FNN, basketball and more. We have these programs for kids after school to develop our talented youth. 

On Friday December 19, 2014, Chamberlain 8th grade students and other Friendship students were invited to participate in a college experience at Friendship Collegiate Academy. The goal of this trip was to make an impression on middle school kids that college is important—not only important—but important to think of now and to mentally prepare yourself.  

Another historical moment for space exploration is the landing of the small robot, Philae  on the comet 67 P.  While reading and researching this story we found out tons of new facts. One of our favorite facts is below.

I managed to catch up with 2010 Collegiate graduate and FNN Alum, Compton Wright. Back in the day, Compton was one of FNN’s top poets.  We spent over an hour IMing on Facebook and found out another dream occupation that Compton is chasing. Here’s how it went….

Several Chamberlain alumni who currently attend Friendship high schools have returned to Chamberlain this Fall to share advice, kind words, humor and stories about how they continue achieving “The Chamberlain Way”.

After a difficult 43-8 loss in the Super Bowl, Peyton Manning looks to be starting off on the same foot. In the 2013 season, Peyton broke Tom Brady’s single season touchdown record and Drew Brees’s single season passing yards record. 

On Thursday, October 31, 2014 “Friendship Cares” raised $500 to support the Susan G. Komen Foundation. The Friendship Cares scholars walked five blocks and made posters and cards to give to people. Friendship Public Charter Schools matched what they raised for a total of $1,000.

The homecoming game was on Nov. 7, 2014 at Spingarn High School and FCA destroyed their opponent 33-6.

The homecoming dance took place November 8th, 2014. The class of 2015 gathered with a few of their younger classmates to enjoy their last homecoming at Friendship Collegiate Academy before going off to college. The students put on their best outfits to fit their all black theme to come out and enjoy themselves.

On October 28, Stedman Graham educator, author, businessman and Oprah Winfrey’s partner came to Friendship Collegiate Academy as part of his Sonima Tour.  A select group of students were able to witness Graham’s motivational speaking skills as he spoke to the Friendship Collegiate Academy students.

I feel like a brand new person when I dance. Dancing makes me feel like Beyonce. It makes me feel confident and brave to believe in myself—you can’t think about falling and getting broken bones.

Hershey is a super dog. Hershey, the brown French Poodle belongs to Ms. Gomes. Ms Gomes is an SSST Coordinator and Hersey is her pet and therapy dog.

How did we get the Tier 1 banner? We worked together as a school. We made sure everyone learned. We showed the core values. The teachers showed a very important core value. They showed they cared for us. If they didn’t care for us, we would not be Tier One. The students showed respect. The students respected the teachers.
