This week, Woodridge’s very own Ms. Sarah Frayer, 2nd grade teacher, has been named the D.C. Finalist for the Sanford Teacher Award! This is certainly a monumental achievement for Ms. Frayer, our entire school, as well as the Friendship community. On March 22, 2018, Woodridge’s 8th graders enjoyed an entire day out of school to visit the Anacostia Watershed in Southeast Washington, DC. This was a great field trip before heading off for a week-long springbreak. Ms. Beckwith, Woodridge’s 7th and 8th grade science teacher, wanted us to have a real-world experience with science while learning about the watershed community and the impact that people have on the natural world.

Last month a judge sentenced the rapper Meek Mill for violating his probation. What’s crazy is that he was sentenced to 2-4 years in prison. What for? Listen carefully because the story gets to be even crazier. Meek Mill was already on probation for a gun and drug charge that took place back in in 2008.

This year Woodridge Elementary has a LEGO Junior League. This afterschool club is sponsored by our 3rd grade math teacher Ms.Taylor Dow. During the program, students are taught tons of math and science concepts through real-world application. We are able to design, build, and create using LEGO’s products.

Woodridge Girls Rock! In honor of Women in History Month, forty-five girls were selected by their teachers to see the movie, A Wrinkle in Time along with our principal Felicia Owo. This happened because of donated tickets to more than 12,000 students nationwide.

Scholars in Preschool and Kindergarten were celebrated for their behavior and participation. In grades 1st thru 6th, scholars were recognized for their grades with a G.P.A. of 3.0 or better.
