Did you watch the Oscars this year? If you did, and even if you maybe didn’t, you definitely saw Will Smith slap Chris Rock. Now, without any context, it may seem like he did it for no reason. Yet, there was actually a reason as to why actor Will Smith would do such a thing, and that reason, to some, is kind of sweet.

To vaccinate or not to vaccinate? Nowadays, it feels like we are forced to get vaccinated to do almost anything. From going to restaurants, staying in hotels and even attending school, proof of vaccination is mandated which leaves the choice of getting vaccinated up to the people.

How do you spend the fourth Thursday of November? Many people spend Thanksgiving eating turkey and mashed potatoes, but that’s not always the case for everyone. On Thanksgiving my family and I rent a house near a lake and eat things like “pelinel” (pork shoulder) and “pan de jamon” (bread stuffed with things like ham, cheese, olives and raisins).

Did you know that sharks can be afraid of you? That may seem untrue, but to your disbelief, sharks do not hurt people for the fun of it. Sharks do it because humans can look like food to them, or they are just curious about what is in their territory.

During the month of February, Friendship Public Charter School held the City-Wide Black History Quiz Bowl to celebrate Black History Month. The team of students who represented the Woodridge Eagles was very proud to make it to the finals and they did some impressive work to get there competing against other teams citywide.

Here at Woodridge all we do is win, win, win—no matter what! If you don’t believe me, just look at the big trophies in our main office and the huge banners in our gym. Our Woodridge Lady Eagles ended their season as the PCSAA Middle School Champions, while our Eagle Cheerleaders placed first in the Cheer Starz All Starz competition.
