It’s that time of the year, where America crowns a new Miss USA! Miss USA has been going on since it first started in1952. When you become Miss USA, you influence other young women and children to find their voice and to become more confident in themselves. As Miss USA, you also get lots of advertising deals.

On October 18, 2021, Colin Powell, the first black US secretary of State, died from Covid-19 complications. Most people only know him as Secretary of State, but he’s done many other things.

On Friday, February 28, 5th and 6th grade scholars at Woodridge International School held their first ever Black History Wax Museum. Students who volunteered to participate had to choose an African American icon, wrote a speech about their lives and accomplishments, memorized and finally performed it, in character, for their peers.

On Monday, students had to dress up in their best 90’s looks. On Tuesday, students dressed up as their favorite African American icon or figure to celebrate Black History Month.

Would you purchase a pair of $600 shoes? If so, you would want them to be clean, right? When I think about a pair of brand new shoes, I imagine putting them on, lacing them up, strutting up to the mirror, and constantly keeping my eyes on the lookout for any bystanders who might step on my clean, new shoes.

On Wednesday, November 25, Friendship Woodridge International had its first Safety Patrol Induction thanks to Officer Lake. At the induction, students learned the role of an officer. We learned the history of Safety Patrol. Finally, new members said a pledge. Then they were officially inducted to Safety Patrol, with the duty of protecting classmates.

I know everyone is tired of hearing the talk about who’s sandwich is better—Popeyes or Chick-Fil-A. Well, that controversial debate may not be over because wild and crazy stories are still coming out about the Popeyes Chicken Sandwich.
