Harmful Wildfires Cause Chaos

How would you feel if your home was burned down to ashes? Many families in Los Angeles lost their homes to an immense wildfire that took place on January 7, 2025. Many citizens had to evacuate and leave their homes in order to remain safe.
How did these wildfires occur? According to the European Centre for Medium Range Weather Forecast (ECMWF), “a series of devastating wildfires started in Los Angeles. Aided by extensive drought conditions and Santa Ana winds, the fires quickly spiralled out of control.” This means that because there was very little rain and strong winds, the fires got very large, very quickly, and were hard to stop. States like Washington, Oregon, Texas, Australia and California often experience wildfires. These wildfires impact the community, human health, and ecosystem.
According to the National Academy Press, “29 people were found deceased after the destructive fires. In addition to that, there were 11,000 homes destroyed and 30 billion dollars in property damage.” Wildfires are hard to control, but listening to fire warnings, learning and practicing fire safety, and continuing to maintain a clean and safe environment, are ways you can keep yourself safe.
