Friendship Collegiate Academy’s Esports on Fire!

Wow, what a streak! Friendship Collegiate Academy’s Esports team is undefeated at the Eastern Regional Esports League, beating Yale High School, Paul Public High School, Grayling High School, Hoopeston Area High School in matches of Super Smash Bros. Their next opponent is Eastern Senior High School. The group has been practicing consistently for this moment, and the dedication they put in has paid off. While the Eastern Regional League takes place virtually in each of the school’s Esports rooms, that doesn’t mean there won’t be intense competition and hard work.

When talking about the tournament Mr. Conda, FCA Esports coordinator and 11th and 12th grade math teacher, said, “We are very hopeful for the future. Our continued hard work and practice is great, however, all of that hard work and practice does not mean anything if we don’t continue to dominate. Our winning and the love for this game is what keeps us going.”

FCA Esports team member and sophomore Isaiah Gerald said, “All we need to do is practice, practice, practice: remove the bad habits, and learn from each other. Let us not get jilted. We can not let the enemy get in our heads. That is their win condition. If we lock in, we will be the very best.”

If FCA keeps this streak up, they’ll easily win the tournament. Whether they win it all or not, the FCA Esports team is made up of committed, hard-working students who have shown throughout the school year how talented they are. We are proud of you!
