Forever: A Hidden Gem About Love and Change

Review by Aria Nickens. Photo courtesy of Netflix.

I finished watching a movie called Forever. It was released on May 8, 2025, and was written by Mara Brock Akil. Forever is honestly my favorite romance movie, and I can truly relate to this story about teen love.

Forever is a teen love story about betrayal, transformation, and realizing the one you need has been there all along. This movie stars Keisha Clark (Love Simone) and Justin Edwards (Michael Cooper Jr). They’re two long-lost childhood friends who share Keisha’s dark secret past that could ruin her future dreams, and Justin’s intense family pressure about his college path. How will their story unravel? The movie begins with them reuniting at a house party. Keisha, who is there with her friend Chloe (Ali Gallo), finds Justin sitting all alone. When they start talking, Keisha realizes who Justin was, and they start reminiscing about all their good times together. The chemistry is still there, stronger than ever. But as time passes and their separate worlds collide, that beautiful reconnection is put to the test, and Justin and Keisha must decide if the love they found is strong enough to risk everything they have worked so hard for.

Overall, what I liked about the movie was the persistent passion shared between Keisha and Justin. Even through the miscommunication and heartbreak between them, their commitment to each other is very heartwarming to me. I admire their determination to overcome their personal problems, and the movie highlights the strength of their young love and not giving up on each other, even at the end.

The story leaves you with the idea that love is less about a final destination, but more about the beautiful and difficult journey of self-discovery together. It’s a heartfelt and realistic depiction of teens. I would rate this movie a 10/10 and would watch it again. You can watch Forever on Netflix.
