During Black History Month, my ELA teacher instructed our class to research various topics related to education and their impact on the Black community. One specific topic was historically Black colleges and universities, also known as HBCUs. Savannah State University was an HBCU that stood out during one of our discussions. Not only did my teacher earn her first degree there, but there are so many cool facts about the school.

Savannah State University was established in Georgia by Richard R. Wright Sr. on November 26, 1890. It is the oldest historically Black public college and university in the state of Georgia.

At Savannah State University you can engage in so many things, and learn a lot. For example, Savannah State offers programs to learn about business, education, and liberal arts. In addition, at Savannah State University you can also play division one sports, their men’s basketball team recently won the championship for their conference and division.

Savannah State University is a really good school that I might choose to go to. They offer so many programs, along with a quality education. Kids want to be able to go to a college that is affordable, helps them grow, teaches them, and makes them feel comfortable to create everlasting memories. According to my research, Savannah State University is just the place for that.
