On March 2, 2023, we celebrated Read Across America Day (also Dr. Seuss’s birthday) with book parties in all preK-2 classrooms at five Friendship elementary schools. Our youngest scholars got to pick a favorite book to take home. Parents, teachers, volunteers and older students were on hand to read in story circles, munch cookies, act silly and have fun. The book club would like to thank the Capitol Hill Community Foundation, The Guttman Family Foundation and the Rashid Family Foundation for their generous grants that support the purchase of our books.
