Is Football Practice Too Long?

JULY 28, 2015: Hello everyone, my name is JaJuan Davis. I am here to talk to you about the length of football practice at Friendship Collegiate Academy. I am going to give and get an opinion. I will interview a player and see what his thoughts are on this specific subject. Details coming up, let’s get in to it.

So, I am a freshman football player here at Collegiate. I play wide receiver. I have Summer Bridge here from 7:30am to 1:45pm and football practice is from 1:30pm to 7:30pm. Hopefully, it isn’t this long during the school year. I know that they don’t just practice for six hours straight but it’s still way too long to me. I think during the school year it should be four hours shorter. At my old school, football practice was only 3 hours. Throughout my life, football practice was usually two hours until last year and I'm cool with that, but here it is too long.

My brother DeMarco Davis feels the same way I do…"I feel very tired and sore". Do you think practice is too long? "Yes, waaaayyy too long".

There are many dangers of having long practices. A lot of people here have asthma and sometimes forget their pump. They can’t keep running and getting out of breath without their pumps because they can pass out and the

coaches seem not to care sometimes. These long, hard practices do actually make me want to quit sometimes. The only reason I don’t is because my family always tells me to never quit or give up. I haven’t actually seen anyone suffer an injury during practice, it’s usually before. Actually, when we go outside, people twist their ankles due to the bad field. The only thing I can do after practice is breathe a sigh of relief knowing it is over. I just go downstairs and out the door to my mom.

Well, there you have it. I am not the only one who thinks practice is too long. I'm JaJuan Davis reporting for FNN News.
