MAR. 8, 2019: Do you eat rubber? Does it even seem like it would taste delicious? Well, thousands of kids love to eat McDonald’s nuggets, Chick Fil A, and frozen store-bought chicken nuggets. We all like to eat our nuggets with ketchup, honey mustard, or barbecue sauce. But guess what? Tyson’s Chicken is pulling their nuggets out of stores. The nuggets have been recalled by USDA because they have found rubber inside the meat. This is very crazy because what if somebody chokes on the rubber or dies?
Tyson's chicken had to change their recipe by getting rid of rubber in their chicken nuggets because humans can’t digest rubber. Imagine how rubber would go down in your digestive system. Chicken nuggets can’t contain rubber or they won’t be able to be sold. According to USDA’s Food Safety and Inspection Service, this product will cause serious adverse health consequences or death.
I strongly feel that eating rubber chicken nuggets is very frightening because rubber is used on car tires which is very disgusting. Let’s just be real for a moment...this doesn’t seem possible in the United States. Let’s just hope that we don’t have another food crisis like the lettuce scare. My favorite snack is orange slices and what if they had something bad in them? I would be very sad because I wouldn’t be able to eat orange slices or as long as it took to fix the problem.

Has anyone heard about the government shutdown? Approximately 33 days ago President Donald Trump decided to shut down the government for border security. I recently heard on the news that roughly 800,000 people have lost their jobs or have been affected by this shut down.Read More

Remember H&M’s “Coolest Monkey in the Jungle” hoodie everyone thought was offensive because the company put a dark skinned boy in a hoodie that called him a monkey? Now what is even more offensive is that the luxury, high-end designer company Prada had the audacity to release a keychain that sort of looks like a monkey.Read More

Woodridge Eagle Bots participated in Friendship’s 5th Annual First Lego League Regional Competition. It is their way of kicking off the Robotics season by having all of the schools participate. The Woodridge team presented a solution-oriented presentation called “The Radiation Crisis in Space.” This project helped us to find out the many contributions of the deep-space radiation environment. A better understanding of the sun’s modulation of this radiation environment will allow mission planners to make better decisions for a future Mars mission.
We also learned that waves or subatomic particles transport energy to another entity, whether it is an astronaut or spacecraft component. Learning all of these things helped us make our project special.
Everyone was super engaged and excited to share their creation. This league helps students to be science and technology leaders by working on engineering skills. The Eagle Bots’ self-confidence soared like eagles as the team was able to talk about our work to the judges. Through our dedication and hard work we were able to receive 1st place in the Division I Project Category.

This week, Woodridge’s very own Ms. Sarah Frayer, 2nd grade teacher, has been named the D.C. Finalist for the Sanford Teacher Award! This is certainly a monumental achievement for Ms. Frayer, our entire school, as well as the Friendship community. Ms. Frayer’s achievement is just one of the many examples of the excellence in teaching that resides within our school.Read More

OCT. 24, 2018: Friendship Woodridge is unlike any other school. There are no limits to our achievements. Woodridge has been doing some incredible things in the community. For example, we've been making music videos for charitable causes such as "Stop Bullying". Last year the school was rated Tier One by the DC Public Charter School Board. Our school has many different reasons for being at the top of the charts when it comes to education. We rank the best because of our test scores and our great International Baccalaureate program
First of all, our school has been really hype over the years. Last year, our news team won the “Spirit Stick” at the FNN Awards Dinner for bringing the noise. We were some of the youngest, brightest, and energetic group of students at the FNN Awards dinner!
Our school offers many after school clubs for learning other than just the core subjects. For example, we have a Student Government club that teaches the students how to be leaders by taking leadership roles. This year we are offering a new club that we called the Anime Club. This is a club that allows you to express your anime-loving self. There are a ton of other clubs to choose from as well.
Other schools don’t offer all of the things Woodridge has to offer. This is because our school has worked hard to get to where we are. Our school is based on love, education, family, and friendship. You may not believe it when we say this, but we have a Youtube video with over 100 likes! This school video was made for a serious cause. That cause is to stop bullying. Our school also has a very nice library for the people who love to read and borrow the books they love.
Woodridge is the best school, and nobody can change that. All of our classmates love the school too. We have to give props to the teachers for doing such a great job with us. We also have the best administrators as well.
Come join the fun at the school where the journey of learning begins and where the sky's the limit! We love it here at the Friendship Public Charter School Woodridge Campus, “Home Of the Eagles.”
